TURA: The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) began on Tuesday in which as many as 51,321 candidates are appearing at 140 examination centres across the state.
The examination is being conducted alongside HSSLC, which is already under way since last week. MBOSE officials are keeping a close watch to prevent any untoward incidents like cheating and leakage of question papers after the recent fiasco over the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET).
The board has given specific instructions to concerned officials to remain vigilant.  When contacted, Controller of Examination, T R Laloo, said the examination went off smoothly on the first day.
“Today is the first day of the SSLC examinations. By and large, the examination has gone off smoothly
without any problems. We hope this will continue till the end,” Laloo said.
Laloo also requested all concerned not to panic if any problem arises, but to solve it by calling the MBOSE officials immediately.
Earlier, Joint Director of MBOSE M Marbaniang also informed that comprehensive and detailed instructions have been given to all officers in charge of the examination centres.
According to the official, all concerned have been directed to handle confidential matters as per the instructions of the board.
