SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly session was prorogued sine die on Thursday.
It may be mentioned that the budget session was cut short in view of the Lok Sabha elections in the state on April 11.
The Assembly session started on March 8 and was originally scheduled to end on March 22.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
