MLA demands compensation

SHILLONG: Rajabala MLA Azad Zaman has demanded compensation of at least Rs 10 lakh for families of each of the coal miners trapped in the coal mine at Ksan in East Jaintia Hills
He said that though an interim relief of Rs one lakh has been given to the families, additional compensation should be given .
Stating that he has already taken up the matter in the Assembly, he said it would also be taken up with the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission soon.
It may be mentioned that out of 16 trapped coal miners, seven were from West Garo Hills.
