SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is optimistic that the long vexed boundary dispute between Assam and Meghalaya would be resolved while pointing out that he is likely to hold talks with his Assam counterpart after the Lok Sabha elections.
He told reporters that efforts were on to resolve the boundary row with Assam. He admitted that the issue is complicated and hence successive governments have not been able to find a solution. However, he said he was hopeful.
Sangma said that he has had many a discussion with the Assam chief minister at various locations although it was unofficial.
On disturbances at a few places in the disputed areas, Sangma said that both the governments are concerned about the safety of their respective populace and trying to prevent such sporadic incidents.
