SHILLONG: The enforcement wing of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), along with the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Nongthymmai circle, conducted a check on trading licence at shops in Madanrting and Happy Valley on Friday.
In a statement issued here, HYC Nongthymmai general secretary Daniel Syiem said three shops were closed down because there was no trading licence.
Syiem said the organisation will continue their drive to check trading licences in Nongthymmai and its adjoining areas.
He thanked the executive member in charge of trade, Paul Lyngdoh, for sending the enforcement wing for inspection. Syiem warned local Khasis against defending non-tribal traders who do not possess licences.
