SHILLONG: Pushed to the brink, Royal Wahingdoh on Wednesday made a remarkable comeback to beat Mohammedan SC 3-1 in a final round match of the Second Division I-League played in Siliguri on Wednesday.

Down by a goal after five minutes of play, Wahingdoh struck back through a Seityasen Singh goal in the 27th minute. Kima followed his skipper with a shot into the nets in the 37th minute.

Crossing over, the Royals did well to maintain the lead against their opponents who have fared well in the tournament so far with three wins from four matches they played prior to Wednesday’s tie. However, Wahingdoh hit the final nail on the coffin for Mohammedan when Kima struck again in the injury time (95th minute) to lead his team to a much needed victory.

With this win, Wahingdoh moved up to the fourth position in the points tally with seven points from five matches. With seven more matches to go and United Sikkim along with ONGC and Mohammedan SC still going strong, RWFC would need to maintain the momentum in the coming matches.

It may be mentioned that Wahingdoh had to surrender three points to ONGC on Tuesday following an AIFF ruling for fielding four foreign players at the same time.
