SHILLONG: The Executive Member (EM) of Labour and UDP MDC, Teibor Pathaw informed that 5,712 labour licenses were issued in 2018-2019.
Replying to a query raised by Congress MDC Bajop Pyngrope during the question hour of the Budget session of the KHADC, Pathaw said that outsourcing the issuing of licenses has earned sufficient revenue for the KHADC.
The contractor will have to pay Rs 12 lakh in the first year, Rs 12.2 lakh in the second year and Rs 12.3 lakh in the third year.
The contractor is Pynbeitsuk Lyngdoh of Mawlai.
However, Congress MDC Ronnie Lyngdoh urged the EM to do away with the outsourcing of department work and to take measures curb influx instead.
Pathaw replied by stating that the outsourcing was a result of inadequate man power in the department.
The EM also said that he has advised his licensing officer to inspect construction sites and service centers.
