SHILLONG: The NPP state president WR Kharlukhi on Monday said, “Congress is a sly party which keeps on targeting NPP over its alliance with the BJP-led NDA.”

“They have no issue and so they are making up issues,” he said

The statement from Kharlukhi came after the AICC had attacked NPP over its alliance with the BJP.

Speaking to newsmen, WR kharlukhi said that NPP never hid that it had worked with NDA and even during the CAB fiasco, NPP had made it clear that it would withdraw from the NDA if they had passed the Bill.

He, however,  added that Congress on the other hand worked with the BJP, NPP and UDP  in Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).

Maintaining that the party has intensified the campaign in Garo Hills, he added that the NPP was contesting the elections to win it.

When asked if the NPP is facing the toughest challenge in Tura from Congress which is fielding Mukul Sangma, he said that every election was a though battle and party did not take any election lightly.

On being asked if there was any anti incumbency factor working in Tura against the NPP, he said that there was no such fear as people would judge the performance of the party in the elections.
