SHILLONG: A whopping Rs 50 lakh has been seized from the entire state after the model code of conduct came into the force in Meghalaya in view of the April 11 Lok Sabha elections.
Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor said that Static Surveillance Teams have so far seized Rs 51 lakh.
On Monday, a Static Surveillance Team recovered Rs 19 lakh from the possession of a woman identified as Klinsista Lyngdoh of Umdihar at Bhoirymbong in Ri Bhoi district.
Earlier, on March 30, Rs 2 lakh was seized from the possession of one Md. Jafiruddin of Ujan, Karimganj, Assam at Umroi in the district.
