2 die after ambulance hits truck in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: Two persons were killed and five others injured when the speeding ambulance they were travelling in hit a truck parked on the highway at Shangbangla near Nongpoh on Tuesday morning.
Police said the ambulance with Assam registration was ferrying a patient from Silchar to Guwahati and the incident happened around 4am.
It rammed into the truck from behind killing one person on the spot.
The truck had Meghalaya registration.
The deceased man was identified as Gautam Roy (43). The patient, Prahalad Das Vaishnab, died on the way to Nongpoh Civil Hospital. Others who were seriously injured are driver Saley Ahmad Barbhaiya, Anamika Vaishnab (32), Subir Bhawmik, (22), Manoj Nath and Sanjay Malakar (20). All of them are from Cachar district.
The injured persons were rushed to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
