City artistes participate in South Asian arts summit

SHILLONG: Poets, writers and artists of Shillong were invited to participate in the South Asian Culture and Literature Summit, 2019 organised by the Association for South Asian Literature and Culture (AFSACA) at Jahangirabad, Rangpur in Bangladesh from March 27-29.
Streamlet Dkhar, a Khasi poet and dramatist had given a keynote address and spoke about humanity, friendship and unity in diversity in the inaugural function.
A Bengali poet, Falguni Chakraborti along with a young artist, Priyojit Dey performed a duet of poetic drama on Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam, a self-composed dramatic performance and there after a speech was given by Dey on the ideology of being and becoming good human.
Bakhiamon Rynjah and Minimon Laloo, presented their poems whereas Evanisha Pathaw mesmerised the audience with her songs.
All the participants were being felicitated by chief guest Noor Mahmud Mondal, former Member of Parliament.
Jaintia dance, Ka Chad Sukhra was also performed by the Khasi poets who are members of AIPC and also members of Ka Thiar Lyngwiar Dpei Society, Shillong.
Streamlet Dkhar was nominated as the chief advisor and Falguni Chakraborti as the president of the AFSACA.
