Tibetan govt-in-exile apeals for dialogue with China

Guwahati: The Tibetan government-in-exile today appealed to the people of India and representatives in Parliament and state legislatures to facilitate a dialogue with China to resolve the issue of independence for their people.

Addressing a conference on Tibet and Himalayan Environment and Ecology here on Monday, Gyari Dolma, home minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, said a “meaningful dialogue” was necessary to resolve the issue. Supporting the cause of the Tibetan people for their “right to freedom”, Dolma said her government strives for creation of a “political entity comprising three traditional provinces of Tibet which will enjoy the status of of a “genuine national regional autonomy”. The minister supported setting up of Tibet support groups in the country and the Northeast region. (PTI)
