SHILLONG: Executive Member (EM) of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and in-charge of Trade Paul Lyngdoh will conduct an inspection in Nongmynsong as the number of non-tribal traders is growing in the area.
The was informed by KSU Nongmynsong unit, who met the EM on Monday.
Speaking to reporters, president of KSU Nongmynsong unit
Raymond Kharjana said there are over 90-100 shops coming up in Nongmynsong which he has brought to the notice of Lyngdoh.
“There is a need for inspection of trading license. Though we check and ask the shops to close down yet they open after some days, hence we had to approach the KHADC to check the trading license,” Kharjana said.
Commenting on the transfer of license after the death of the non-tribal traders to their family members, Kharjana said this is a disadvantage for the local youths and soon they will be deprived of employment if this continues.
