Domestic LPG cylinders seized in city

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills District Administration in its continuing raid on commercial establishments in the city seized 39 domestic LPG cylinders. The raid party conducted simultaneous raids on several commercial establishments and made the seizure, besides realizing an amount of Rs 36,500 as fine from defaulters.

Altogether 11 domestic LPG cylinders were seized from Polo Nongmynsong, 15 from Nongthymmai – Madanriting – Happy Valley, three from Kench’s Trace – Bishnupur area, five from Motphran – Lumdiengri – Garikhana and five more from Cantonment – Mawprem – Jhalupara area.

The Deputy Ccommissioner has stated that seizure of such large numbers of cylinders indicate that there are some unscrupulous elements who are taking these domestic cylinders in the commercial market. He also warned all those involved in such act to abstain in future.

He has also directed the gas agencies in the city to ensure that there is no black marketing of the domestic cylinders and has warned action against them in future if any such complaints are lodged against them.

Informing that there is enough supply of commercial cylinders in the district, he directed all commercial establishments to shift to use of commercial cylinders so as to avoid penal action in future
