TURA: Students of Rongram Higher Secondary School have brought laurels to their institution by bagging as many as 33 medals in the recently concluded Chief Minister’s Inter-School Athletic Meet here at the P A Sangma stadium. The athletic students of the school who participated in the field events, javelin, discus and shot put throws took home 20 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals from the two day athletic meet. Teen sportstar Nopanchi A Sangma from the school was adjudged the best athlete in the district in the category of Under 18 Girls. Bethner A Sangma, younger brother of the famous marathon runner Batsrang A Sangma, bagged gold in the Under 18 Boys 3000 meters race. Each year the school has been participating in the athletics meet securing championships of different categories. This year, ten students have been selected by the District Sports office to represent the district in the upcoming state championships scheduled to be held in Shillong, next week.
