SAI to launch new scheme for promotion of sports in city

SHILLONG: With an objective to impart coaching, primarily to beginners, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Training Centre (STC), Shillong will launch a scheme under the name ‘Come and Play’. The scheme targets to encourage participation in sports and facilitate the optimum utilisation of the facilities available by encouraging the youngsters. Meritorious talent emerging from this scheme will also form a pool and entry link for induction into regular residential Sports promotional scheme of STC and SAG. In view of feasibility in regards of availability of sports infra structure and the coaches in the discipline concerned, three sports disciplines namely- (1) Archery (For both Boys & Girls) (2) Taekwondo(For both boys & Girls (3)Karate (for both Boys &Girls) will be covered in this scheme. And youngsters under the age group of 8-17 years can participate. Last date of registration for the scheme would be April 23rd.
