KSU meets DC over entry-exit point in WKH

NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), West Khasi Hills District unit met West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa on Wednesday and urged him to speed up the implementation of entry and exit point in Athiabari under Mawshynrut Civil Sub-Division in West Khasi Hills.
During the meeting, Lyngwa told the members of the KSU that land compensation worth Rs 97 lakh has been paid fully and the eight acre land belong to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council for setting up of the entry and exit point.
Lyngwa also told the union that the plan and estimate has already been sent to the PWD (building) office.
During inquiry, the PWD engineer said that that the estimate was under process and after completion it will be sent to the planning and finance department.
President KSU WKHD unit, Johnfisher Nongsiang, when speaking to reporters said that the unit expressed their satisfaction over the progress of the entry and exit point which was take up by the State Government.
It also urged the state government that the point should be activated this year to check illegal migrants entering Meghalaya.
