JOWAI: A woman died after sustaining grievous injuries during a fight with another woman over a suspected illicit affair.
The incident took place at a market known as Nongjri near Sakhain village under Sutnga Elaka in East Jaintia Hills district. As per the East Jaintia Hills police, two women identified as Saili Dorji and Subha Rai had a fight.
When Rai succumbed to injuries, her husband Sudesh Raj, along with his friends, buried her, which he revealed during interrogation.
However, another police report stated that the fight broke out due to an issue of country-made liquor.
