SHILLONG: The Baghmara College Students Union has unanimously resolved to organise two days of Non-Cooperation Movement (NCM) in entire South Garo hills district with regard to their college grievances.

The NCM will take effect on April 19 amd 20 from 5 AM to 5 PM, informed the student union.

The college was provincialized few years back but it is yet to appoint a full fledged principal and not a single development work have been in progress.

The members of the student union inform that time and again they approached the authorities to fulfill the basic requirements of the college like appointment of full fledged principal and sanctioning of fund for developmental works and other requirements but no progress has taken place.

“The government of Meghalaya is totally neglecting to provide all necessary subjects,” said the general secretary Rakman N Sangma.

In pursuant to all demands, union also organized some sort of agitation last year but no positive respond was met by the government.

Along with appointment of full fledged principal the student union is demanding the government take immediate initiative to do the earliest hearing of the high court to clear the order of the court with regards to appointment of the principal.

A complaint was filed in the high court by Donbard Marak to retain himself as principal of the college against the government appointment candidate.

The student union had given its support to the government appointed principal and demanded the ouster of Donbard Marak who despite being only a lecturer had held on to the principal’s position for several years refusing to even allow the full-fledged and government appointed officer to take over.
