SHILLONG: The Meghalaya EMRI Workers Union has given a week’s time to the state government to fulfill their pending demands and has threatened to strike if their demands were not met.
Speaking about their demands, the union said understaffing of emergency services should be stopped and leave policy should be just and fair as per the Meghalaya Shops and Establishment Act and Factory’s Act.
The union also demanded equal pay for equal work for EMRI workers,
yearly disbursement of TA and mandatory annual increment based on inflation.
They went on to add that ambulance conditions should be road and patient worthy and there should be routine maintenance of vehicles. Pilots should not be forced to bear expenses for the maintenance of the ambulance.
