AGARTALA: The AICC has finally appointed MLA Sudip Roy Barman as Tripura Pradesh Congress president putting an end to the long speculation about possible change of guard in the oll-bound state. The three-time MLA has replaced senior party leader Surajit Dutta who was PCC president for more than two years but failed to deliver positive results. In a press release, AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi on Friday evening said, “Congress president Sonia Gandhi has approved the proposal for appointing Shri Sudip Roy Barman as the president of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect”. According to political analysts, Sudip has been chosen for the post keeping in mind of his political caliber, age and educational background. The AICC, in fact has given a serious consideration for choosing TPCC chief as the state will go the Assembly elections in early next year. With this change of guard, the AICC has sent a clear message to Pradesh Congress that it really wants to topple the Marxist rule which has been in power for the three consecutive terms. Now, it’s to be seen, how the new PCC president mobilize the organization to achieve the Mission 2013. It may be mentioned here that the PCC is scheduled to organize a mass rally on April 30 show organizational strength before the next Assembly elections.
