Training prog on Incident Response System held

Shillong: A two-day training programme on Incident Response System (IRS) for Incident Response Teams (IRTs) of Zone –I of Shillong city which covers Laitumkhrah was inaugurated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner & CEO, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills, I Majaw on Thursday.
It was held at the Training Hall of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides, Shillong and organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) under the aegis of the Developing Resilience Cities through Risk Reduction in the context of Disaster and Climate Change.
It is also a joint initiative of the USAID Ministry of Home Affairs and the United Nations Development Programme.
In her brief address, Majaw informed that Shillong is divided into seven zones and the training is being conducted to familiarize the Incident Response Team members of planning, operation and logistic sections of zone –I about their role and responsibilities for quick and effective response based on the Incident Response System during disaster, she added.
Fire Protection Officer, M Rymbai was present as the resource person for the programme.
