SHILLONG: The office of the Sub Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), Shillong, has already submitted the proposal recently regarding the first arrear installment of the revised pay of the deficit school teachers (UP and LP level) to the office of Directorate of School Education and Literacy (DSEL), Shillong, to enable the DSEL office in releasing the arrear before the teachers’ day celebration 2019.
This was informed by the president of Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) Babu Kular Khonjirem who said the arrear, which was pending for the last seven months, is sanctioned from December 2018 which is on par with the Secondary and Higher Secondary level.
He said there was a delay in releasing the arrear because some schools could not submit the proposals in time.
According to reliable sources, out of 14 SDSEO offices in the whole state, 13 of them have been already disbursed to different schools during May-June except the SDSEO of Shillong being the headquarter of the state.
Although the secondary level is yet to receive another 25 per cent of the second installment of the revised pay arrear, the primary and upper primary school are yet to receive the first installment only. He said the office of the Shillong SDSEO gave an excuse stating that the office comprises more schools compared to others; hence the delay.
Khongjirem asserted it is expected that no further delay of salary and arrears will be repeated in times to come.
