Metbah for strengthening Home Guards

SHILLONG: The Civil Defence and Home Guards (CD&HG) Minister Metbah Lyngdoh on Tuesday inaugurated the annual conference of the CD&HG at Central Training Institute, Civil Defence and Home Guards, Mawdiangdiang, here.
Addressing the inaugural function, the minister said there is a need to strengthen manpower and the working capacity of the department so as to respond effectively during disasters and natural calamities.
He also informed that the government is looking at the possibility of setting up of CD&HG offices in all the districts. He hoped that the deliberations and discussions during the day-long conference will throw up a positive outcome that will bring about strategies and measures to be adopted in the event of natural or man-made calamities.
