Donations pour in for flood-affected victims

SHILLONG: Five-year-old L Mayan Nongbri donated his piggy bank, which had his entire savings, to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood-affected people.
“I’m touched by his kindness and his act of empathy,” tweeted the chief minister.
North Tura MLA, Thomas A Sangma donated Rs 1 lakh towards Fund.
The Research Scholars’ Forum of NEHU, Shillong handed over a cheque of Rs 1,01,040 to the chief minister at his residence on Tuesday. The Forum had organised a musical evening—Symphony — and donated the amount collected towards the cause. A memorandum was also handed to the chief minister with regard to NET centres for both Arts and Science.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya State Government Employees’ Federation has appealed to all the state government/Central government associations and employees, boards and PSUs to contribute to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help the families affected by the floods that hit Garo Hills and other parts of the state recently.
Contribution can be handed over directly to the chief minister or to the CM’S Relief Fund A/C No.702002035105, IFSC YESBOMCA002, Meghalaya Co-op Apex Bank, Shillong branch.
