School for underprivileged celebrates 25 years

Nongpoh: After 25 years of providing education to the underprivileged children of Nongpoh area, Nomiwell Secondary School kick-off the silver jubilee celebration on Wednesday. Various programmes were held at the school premises as mark of celebrating the journey of the school.
The school was first setup in 1993 by few individuals of Nongpoh in remembrance of the former Lyngdoh of Raid Nongpoh, (L) Nomiwell Lyngdoh.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem said that it is a proud moment to be part of the wonderful journey of the school. He added that he is happy to see that the school stands tall despite difficulties. The dedication of teachers, the managing committee members led the school to reach this milestone, Syiem said. The MLA urged the teachers, the managing committee members to continue their commendable service in serving the poor in giving them a proper education.
Others who spoke on the occasion included, Nongpoh MDC, Balajied Rani, Ri Bhoi DSEO, VS Nongbet, and others. Various programmes were also held as part of the celebration.
