KVK holds live streaming of Animal Disease Control Programme in city

SHILLONG: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), East Khasi Hills under the Department of Agriculture, Meghalaya in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department organised a live webcast of the inaugural ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘National Animal Diseases Control Programme’, ‘Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme’ and ‘Swacchta Hi Sewa Programme’ on Wednesday at Integrated Agricultural Training Centre, IATC, 6 Mile, Upper Shillong.
The Joint Secretary, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, CD Lyngwa, was the Chief Guest in the presence of C.Shylla, Director, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Joint Directors, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, among other officers and staffs of Agriculture Department, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department Krishi Vigyari Kendra, East Khasi Hills District, BATC & MAMETL.
Altogether 80 livestock farmers from Mawklot and Nongpiur villages attended the programme.
The prime minister had inaugurated the programme at 11:00 Am in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, where the control of Foot and Mouth Diseases, Brucellosis, and Artificial Insemination were highlighted.
The inaugural session was followed by a technical session which was chaired by A.Laloo, DVO, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department and lectured by T.V. Kharsyntiew.
Field visit at farmers’ field led by C. Lyngdoh, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer and Oficers of KVK, East Khasi Hills District was undertaken where Artificial Insemination in cattle was demonstrated followed by vaccination on Foot and Mouth Disease.
