Shillong: The NCP will declare the names of the remaining candidates for the upcoming 2013 Assembly elections within this month, NCP leader Conrad Sangma said to The Shillong Times on Saturday.

The NCP has so far declared the names of fourteen people including Conrad (Selsella), James K Sangma (Dadenggiri), ECB Bamon (Mookaiaw), Omillo K Sangma (Kharkutta) and Timothy D Shira as party candidates for 2013 elections.

Sangma also hinted that the NCP is planning to put up candidates in most of the constituencies to improve on their performance in the 2008 polls.

“We will be contesting from majority of the seats in this election,” Sangma said.

On the non inclusion of sitting Laban legislator Sanbor Shullai in the list of candidates declared so far, Sangma said that Shullai is yet to submit his form for contesting the elections from the party.

The party leadership has refrained from allotting ticket to Adolf Marak, who is under suspension from the party, and in his place GHADC MDC, Dipul R Marak, will be seeking his electoral fortunes from Rangsakona in West Garo Hills.

Reacting to a query on whether NCP leader Purno Sangma would be contesting the 2013 elections, Conrad said, “I don’t know and that should be asked to him (PA Sangma).”
