SHILLONG: The annual general meeting of Indian National Trust of Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Meghalaya Chapter was held at Pinewood Hotel on Saturday.
It was chaired by Madeline Tham, convener of Meghalaya Chapter. The co-convener of Meghalaya Chapter Moushumi Dey was also present.
The meeting was attended by a number of old and new members besides institutional members as well.
The meeting deliberated on several upcoming programmes to be taken up in the field of conservation and preservation of tangible and intangible heritage of the state for the year 2019-2020.
Speaking on the occasion, Tham apprised the members of the current vision and mission of the Meghalaya Chapter. The members felt that there is an urgent need for intervention to for protecting the endangered heritage of the land.
INTACH was founded in 1984 in New Delhi with the vision to create a membership organisation to spearhead heritage awareness and conservation in India. Presently it has chapters in 170 cities all over the country as well as Belgium and the United Kingdom.
