SHILLONG: A’chik Matgrik Kotok, Forum Against Corruption and Exploitation (FACE), PETRAH, Gitting Rani Dol and GrikA’chik team successfully organised the 150th Garo Hills Day at the PA Sangma Stadium on Monday and Tuesday. Deepan G Momin, Secretary, A’chik Matgrik Kotok informed in a statement issued here.
During the occasion, events like Garo Hills Run, A’chikGun, Gitting Rani, Traditional games, Indiginious games and GrikA’chik were organised. The young and the elderly participated in the events.
The programme ended with the release of the Garo Hills anthem “Ang’ A’chik A’song” sung by various artists. The youths of Garo Hills have become more aware of the history of Garos, thus contributing in successfully organising the Garo Hills Day, Momin said.
The secretary of the association informed that more events are being added to the celebration every year and the organisers have also appealed to the chief minister to officially recognise this day.
