Company inaugurates community hall, launches livelihood programme in EJH

Guwahati: Star Cement recently inaugurated a community hall at Lumshnong village located in East Jaintia Hills.
The newly constructed community hall with a size of 6000 sq. ft. will be able to meet the cultural, social and sports requirements of the neighbouring areas of Lumshnong and will cater to both indoor and outdoor activities.
However, the structure will be further developed and supplemented in a phase-wise manner keeping in mind the local needs of the area and the community and the maintenance of the hall is subject to the support and cooperation of the entire community.
During the inauguration of the community hall, the chairman of Star Cement, Sajjan Bhajanka said, “The Community Hall is constructed at the centre of Lumshnong village, adjacent to the national highway to ensure better accessibility and will be able to fulfil the need of the community to organise group activities, social functions, cultural activities, community meetings, children’s functions and various other occasions.”
“Now the people of Lumshnong village community will be able to welcome other villages in organising various socio-cultural activities with a broader vision to uplift the society and become a symbol of unity,” he added.
Bhajanka also distributed 41 sewing machines to the women of Lumshnong and neighboring villages.
The company also expressed its gratitude to the headman of Lumshnong, Moonlang Ladong, MDC Emlangky Lamare, the Dorbar Shnong Lumshnong and other stakeholders.
