Butchers warn against dumping of dead cattle

JOWAI: The Butcher Association, Jaintia Hills has issued a strong warning to illegal transporters and smugglers of cattle from Meghalaya to Bangladesh via Jowai Amlarem road regarding the disposal of dead cattle within the area of Demthring village from Tre-Iong-Riang till Pynthorlangtein village.
“We have found that on several occasions dead cattle have been disposed along the road causing inconvenience due to foul smell to passerby”, D Ryngkhlem, secretary of the association said.
The secretary further informed that the truckers who were involved in the illegal trade of cattle from India to the neighbouring Bangladesh randomly disposed off the dead cattle along Jowai-Amlarem road.
The association along with the Village Council of Demthring village will take stern action against anybody involved in the disposal of cattle bodies within the village area.
