Half marathon to celebrate TA Day

Shillong: As part of the Territorial Army Day celebrations, a half-marathon was organised by the 119 INF BN (TA) ASSAM, at the Bn permanent location at Kench’s Trace, Shillong on Wednesday.
It was flagged off by the Commandant, Assam Regimental Centre, Brigadier Charandeep Singh, Sena Medal.
The event consisted of 21 km run for serving personnel and a shorter “Run For Fun” for veterans, families and children. A total of 77 serving personnel of various TA and Army units in the station, 10 veterans, 49 ladies and 80 children participated. Apart from reiterating the idea of Territorial Army as an “Epitome of Physical Fitness”, the participants also spread the message of “Hum Fit Toh India Fit”. After the event, veteran officers of the Bn felicitated the participants with medals and a certificate of participation.
YONOK meet
The year 2019 also being the “Year of the Next of Kin (YONOK)” of the Indian Army, a YONOK meet was also organised at the venue which was attended by 9 veterans including officers and the Next of Kin.
