Monopolisation of agricultural products

TURA: The Farmer’s Association of Adokgre, East Garo Hills, has appealed to the Nokmas, Laskers, Sorders and NGOs to support them in their campaign against the monopolisation of agricultural products in entire Garo Hills.

The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) seems to be against the interests of the farmers,” a Farmer’s Association statement said on Saturday. “We have often heard of ”Minimum Support Price’. But in reality we have been exploited and harassed over the years in the name of monopoly in Garo Hills,” the statement added.

We deserve the right to sell our products to anyone and the Farmer’s Association is determined to fight democratically to protect and safeguard the interest of fellow farmers, the statement said.

The Association urged people to join it in its campaign at the Office of Farmer’s Association on May 25.
