‘Lynti Jam a ray of hope for specially abled children’

Lapang unveils foundation stone for special school

NONGPOH: Chief Advisor to the Government of Meghalaya, DD Lapang laid the foundation stone for Lynti Jam Special School and Vocational Training Centre of Lyntijam Development and Welfare Association (LJDWA) at Pahamlapong, Nongpoh on Thursday.

The centre will be constructed at Mawtnum, five kilometres from here, at a total cost of Rs 2 crore, alloted by the North Eastern Council (NEC). The school would have boarding facilities equipped with necessary aids and appliances for the specially abled children.

Applauding the efforts of LJDWA in imparting education to the differently abled children, the former CM termed the school as ‘a ray of hope for the youngsters’ who can use the training to make themselves self reliable.

Lapang also praised the teachers of the school for their untiring commitment in rendering education to the special ones.

It may be mentioned that the LJDWA is a Ri-Bhoi based NGO formed in the year 2003 with an aim to impart training and education to specially abled children. Akash Deep Singh, DC, Ri-Bhoi, was also preent on the occasion.
