SHILLONG: Meghalaya Government on Friday amended the state excise rules with a hope that it would lead to mobilisation of an additional revenue of Rs 7-8 crores annually
Speaking to newsmen after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma said that the rules had been amended to increase the overall revenue of the state government.
As there are seven categories for different brands and categorization of IMFLs, Sangma said that the Government had re-categorised the IMFL brands by reducing the value of the cost price on per case basis
He said that the cost price of deluxe prestige categorization used to be Rs 885 to 1285 per case ,but now the Government has reduced it to Rs 701 to 920 per case. He added that the idea is to reduce the cost price and include certain brands in certain categories
Informing that the Government have changed the rate of ad–valorem which the Government charge on different categories, he added that due to the rationalization between the Categorization and ad–valorem, the state would see an increase in the revenue earning to the tune of Rs 7-8 crores annually
