Advisory on recruitment
SHILLONG: The Office of the Director General of Police has informed that the Central Recruitment Board (CRB) has urged the public to not be misled by documents with regard to recruitment for various posts within the department being circulated in the social media. Until advertisements have been published through print media and have been hosted in the website of the department, the general public is requested to not follow any unofficial instructions, it said in a statement issued here. The CRB, in due course of time, will publish the advertisement accordingly and for further information on recruitment interested candidates are requested to follow the police department website megpolice.gov.in and the social media handles: “meghpolice” in Facebook; “MeghalayaPolice” in Twitter and “meghalayapolice” in Instagram.

Nongstoin bans use of plastic
NONGSTOIN: The Syiem of Nongstoin with the Durbar has decided to accept and implement the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) order regarding ban on plastic within the jurisdiction of the Hima Nongstoin. E.P. Syiem, Syiem of Nongstoin, in a statement, has asked the people of Nongstoin Syiemship to stop using plastic especially non-biodegradable ones. The Syiem has given a strict order to the shop owners, restaurant, street vendors, etc. to avoid using plastic. The order will come into force with effect from Tuesday, and anyone found violating the code will be penalised under relevant sections of the law, the statement said. The Syiem also urged the headmen, sordars of villages within the jurisdiction of the Hima, schools, colleges and office departments to put a stop on use of plastic.

Educere Sec School turns fifty
WILLIAMNAGAR: Colorful celebrations marked the silver jubilee of Educere Secondary School in Williamnagar with North Tura MLA and the Adviser to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Thomas A Sangma, congratulating the school for the wonderful 25 years of providing education during an event here at the District Auditorium on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Thomas congratulated the principal for her painstaking effort in keeping the school alive to serve and mould the youth of the region and said that the school has many achievements bearing witness to teaching faculty and the school management. Citing examples of low pass percentage in different schools of Garo Hills, he informed that the present government had taken a firm decision to streamline the education system in the state. Others who spoke included Denang T Sangma, Chairman of the GHADC, Swapnil Tembe, Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills and Gamchi Timre R Marak, principal of the school. On the day, the teaching faculties of the school were also felicitated for their selfless services.
