Petroleum dealers call off strike partially

SHILLONG: In view of the ongoing school final examinations and requests made by several parties, Petroleum Dealers’ Association, Meghalaya (PDAM) has decided to partially call off the strike slated for November 25 by keeping all the petrol pumps open but to continue with the ‘No Purchase of Fuel’ from Oil Marketing Companies for 24 hours on the same day followed by further agitational programmes if supplies to the affected petrol pumps are not resumed unconditionally within 7 days.
The Petroleum Dealers’ Association, Meghalaya informed that a meeting was called on Friday by the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills Matsiewdor War Nongbri to discuss the proposed strike called by PDAM.
The meeting was attended by a delegation of members and office bearers of the PDAM.
A detailed discussion on various issues and problems faced by the petroleum dealers of the state was held. Nongbri was also apprised of the reasons for calling the strike.
The DC assured that she will take up the matter with oil marketing companies advising them to release the loads of the 4 petrol pumps which have been closed by Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union for the past 3 months. She has also decided to take up the matter with Kamrup District Administration.
