WGH DC directs hospitals to report teenage pregnancy
TURA: In view of an increase in incidents of teenage pregnancy being reported from the district, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh has issued an order directing all hospitals, PHCs and CHCs including ASHAs to lodge FIR with the police in case of identification of tender age pregnancy after due verification. All the above mentioned authorities and individuals have also been directed to submit a monthly report on FIRs lodged before the 10th of the subsequent month to the office of the District Magistrate.

Awareness programme on child, women-related issues
NONGSTOIÑ: The Life Light Focus Concern (LLFC), New Nongstoin, in collaboration with the office of the District Child Protection Officer, West Khasi Hills, organised an awareness programme on Adoption and other Child & Women-related issues on Friday at New Nongstoin Market Complex. The District Child Protection Officer, West Khasi Hills, W Shabong, who was present in the programme, briefed on the death penalty in POCSO Act and how it affects the child victim while District Social Welfare Officer, West Khasi Hills, MA Kharbhih stressed on the challenges faced by women today. Other speakers include Home Superintendent of GPCH Adoreen Marbaniang and B Marwein, Coordinator, Specialised Adoption Agency (SAA), Mawrusyiar.
