Two-day mass casual leave ends

SHILLONG: Muster roll workers of Meghalaya under the banner of the All Meghalaya Muster Roll Progressive Workers Union (AMMRPWU), who went on a two-day mass casual leave on Wednesday, as part of their agitation demanding unpaid wages and other labour benefits like PF, ESI, leave, etc. concluded their leave on Thursday.
Muster roll workers of various departments have not been paid their wages for months, a release issued here informed.
“Muster roll workers are the backbone of the government, yet they have been denied standard labour benefits, which is due to be given to all the workers whether in public or private sector,” the release said.
