NEIGRIHMS hosts natl conference on nursing

SHILLONG: The College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS, organised a two-day 3rd Biennial National Conference from November 29-30 on the theme ‘Changing Tides in Quality Care: Riding the Waves Together’ at the Institute’s auditorium.
Governor Tathagata Roy, who spoke as the chief guest on the occasion, stressed on the importance of nursing “which is constant and cannot be replaced”. He also gave a speech on the Japanese culture and encouraged young nurses to rise and meet the challenges of the world.
Director, NEIGRIHMS, Dr DM Thappa was the Patron; Principal of College of Nursing CE Myrthong was the organising chairperson and Nochovono Tase, lecturer, was the organising secretary.
Delegates attending the conference were from 29 hospitals, 15 colleges and 8 nursing schools, besides representatives from various health centres across the state.
Altogether, 13 oral presentations and 11 poster presentations were presented during the scientific session which was held before the inaugural programme, which was followed by a panel discussion.
Thappa, during the programme, informed about Japanese Centres that are being set up in Guwahati to recruit nurses from the North East.
