All they want is a smile from the commuters

SHILLONG: Sticking to the conventional spirit of giving during Christmas and also solving the modern-day problem in whatever little way possible, two decked-up buses playing Christmas jingles Mirchi Bos Krismas hit the city streets on Monday to ferry Christmas shoppers and passengers alike free-of-cost.
A 91.1 Mirchi FM, Shillong initiative, this gesture of the radio station was intended towards bringing smiles on the faces of the public and also to spread awareness and message that sticking to public mode of transport helps reduce the perennial problem of traffic snarls the city is faced with.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (City) Steve Rynjah flagged off the two buses from U Soso Tham premises.
Steve lauded the initiative and observed that if the people adopt public mode of transportation over private cars, especially during festivity, the traffic snarls would be reduced to a large extent. He further extended his greetings to the public.
Meanwhile, talking about the initiative, RJ Nicholas Kharnami said, “Keeping in mind the traffic snarl in the city and that many Christmas shoppers will be left stranded looking for taxis and buses to ferry them home, Mirchi has come up with a way to help the people of Shillong get to their shopping destination and back home in style with the Mirchi Bos Krismas.”
The two SPTPS buses, decorated with the signature Mirchi colours of red and yellow, will be travelling on the Mawblei-Motphran route, picking and dropping off passengers at main points without charging them anything except smiles.
Yet another RJ Marisa and RJ Gordon also felt that it is time to celebrate and to share happiness and what better way than to bring smiles on people’s faces.
On the same page, RJ Winnie said many people are stranded at locations due to unavailability of local cabs or the refusal of the drivers to ferry them to their destinations, and this initiative is aimed towards eliminating such woes of the public as much as possible and leave them with a smile.
The team of RJs also sang carols in the bus before it hit the streets.
