Body of missing man found in EJH coal mine

JOWAI: The body of a 35-year-old man who reportedly went missing since December 31 was recovered on Saturday.
The body identified as Nor Dkhar of Mutong village was found inside an abandoned coal mine near Rangad village.
The victim had gone to Rangad village along with some of his friends who are from Cham Cham village.
The battered body was spotted after Mutong village Dorbar conducted a search operation on Saturday at the abandoned coal mine and later informed the Ladrymbai police who shifted the body to Khliehriat CHC for autopsy.
The autopsy was conducted on Sunday after which his body was handed over to his relatives for the last rites to be performed on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Dorbar Shnong, Mutong village has condemned the suspected ‘murder’ of the man and urged the EJH police to investigate the case and book all accused as per the law.
“He was a good person and always took part in social activities in the village. We strongly condemn those who were involved in taking away his life and also request the district police to conduct proper investigation and book all those involved”, the headman, H Phawa said.
