Training on disaster management at city hospital

SHILLONG: In order to provide safety to patients, staff and others in the event of a disaster, a three-day training programme on disaster management was organised at Dr. H. Gordon Roberts Hospital, Shillong, which concluded on January 15.
The Hospital Disaster Management Committee led by Mark Thomson Kharsyntiew, Nodal Officer Hospital Disaster Management Committee (HDMC) , Banteilang Nonglang and Banhiam C Kharrngi, as part of the committee formulating the Hospital Disaster Management plan, in compliance to the direction by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills in collaboration with senior officials of the Fire Safety & Emergency Services of Government of Meghalaya, organised a mock drill from January 13 in the Hospital at Armala Ward and ICU.
Members of Quick Response Team (QRT), administrators, Principal School of Nursing, tutors, ward sisters, allied health professionals and support staff among others participated in the mock drill. Resource persons were M. Rymbai (AFPO), Dinesh Rai Assistant, SO and G Muktan, Leader of Search and Rescue Team.
