SHILLONG: The death of a 33-year old woman whose body was lying at the Civil Hospital on Wednesday has raised serious questions after rat bites were seen across her neck.
The deceased, Sumita Marak, had reportedly died in the hospital on Tuesday afternoon following which her husband and relatives went to collect the body the next morning only to find a rat bitten body of the deceased, with its eyes oozed out, lying in the morgue.
Eyewitness in the hospital said that big rats are seen in the hospital rooms with no pest control in sight.
A matron of the hospital said that no response could be provided on the matter until the investigation is complete. Meanwhile, members of the CSWO said that it is mandatory for hospitals to have pest control provisions in place to control the growth of rodents and cockroaches.
