SHILLONG: The Meghalaya (Health) Dietary Suppliers Association has written to the Director of Health Services (DHS) (MI) informing that it has collectively considered stopping the supply of dietary items due to non-payment of bills with effect from March 31, 2020 until the arrears are met.
In the letter to the DHS (MI), the association informed that non-payment of bills for the supplies made by the approved suppliers of dietary items to the health institutions in Shillong such as Civil Hospital, Shillong, Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong, RP Chest Hospital, Shillong and MIMHANS Pasteur Hills, Shillong, has been a regular feature for many years.
The association stated that the amount of money made by the suppliers from June to December 2019 remain unpaid.
Requesting the DHS (MI) to intervene for ensuring the speedy release of bills to enable them to continue their supplies, the association stated that the current outstanding bills is beyond their capacity and it makes them difficult to continue their supplies of dietary items unless pending bills are cleared.
The association asserted that the extreme step was being considered but it was unavoidable in view of the breach of contract and maintained that the suppliers shall claim no responsibility on the matter unless their bills are settled at the earliest.
