Road communication to resume
The Mawsynram-Hatmawdon-Ryngku road which was closed down on June 26 due to landslide at 4th and 5th Mile and at 2nd, 4th, 6th, 10th and 11th km of Phlangsynnei-Tynger-Dewsaw road is expected to open on June 30 after restoration work is completed. Similarly, restoration work of the Balat-Shella road is in progress and road communication will resume on June 30.
New Committee formed
The Youth Hostels Association of India in its General meeting held on June 23 elected Office bearers for the new Committee. John F Kharshiing has been appointed the President along with S L Rapthap, A M Shadap and P Syiemlieh as Vice Presidents. E D Nongsiand has been appointed the Charman.
Awareness programme
The Ai Jingim voluntary donor organization will felicitate its members and organise an awareness programme cum blood donation vamp on Saturday at Regional Blood Bank Pasteur Institute.
Cultural competition
The Annual Cultural Competition of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre (RKMVCC) will commence from Saturday at the RKMVCC premises at Quinton Road here. The competition will coincide with the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and Platinum Jubilee of Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong.

The DC, Jaintia Hills has informed that all government offices and educational institutions in Jaintia Hills shall remain close on July 9 on account of Behdienkhlam festival.
Inspection
The district task force on child labour, East Khasi Hills in its inspection in restaurants, tea shops and others in the vicinity of Shillong city recently detected certain shops employing child labour who were later handed over to the child welfare committee, East Khasi Hills and action is being initiated against the employers for violating the law.
