Truck carrying coke overturns
SHILLONG: A truck carrying coke collapsed at 10 pm on Thursday in 3rd Mile, Upper Shillong. The truck bearing the number plate AS 01 FC 3235 was driven by Rakrik Marak. The driver said that he drove slowly but it was due to the sharp turn on the road that caused the vehicle to collapse. It is the second time that a coke carrying truck collapsed at 3rd Mile.
Notice on abandoned infant
SHILLONG: The infant girl who was abandoned at ITI, Rynjah on February 7 is now under the care and protection of Lawei Baphyrnai, Specialised Adoption Agency here, a statement issued here said. Anyone having information regarding the baby or the case can contact ‘Lawei Baphyrnai’ Specialised Adoption Agency, Nongthymmai- 9612760415, at the earliest. 15-year-old boy missing
SHILLONG: The office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills informed that a fifteen-year-old boy, Manjeet Shah has gone missing since February 15 around 12 pm from Bara Bazaar (Sodaline) Maatara Enterprise here. In this connection, a case was registered at Lumdiengjri PS. Manjeet is 5 feet tall, his complexion is fair, has black hair and was last seen wearing a summer jeans and a light-blue jacket. His identification mark is a mole on his lower side of the right eye. The father of the fifteen-year-old is Sanjay Kumar Shah who is a resident of Lamavilla, Block 4. Directive to protect govt property
TURA: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh has instructed all controlling officers in the district to place their chowkidars/watchmen in the office premises, especially at night. The instruction was given following a direction on the matter by the Political department in Shillong with a view to ensure safety of government properties and to prevent any attempt by miscreants to destroy office buildings, vehicles and other infrastructure during agitations, bandhs besides others. The DC also instructed the parking of government vehicles in a secure area either in the office premises or residence of the officer or within the police station or Police Reserve Complex with information to the officer in-charge.
Inter-school quiz, debate competition
SHILLONG: The office of the District Sports Officer, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong will organise the East Khasi Hills District Level Inter-School Quiz & Debate Competition 2019-2020 on March 11 at U Soso Tham auditorium from 11 am onwards. The objective of the programme is to provide a platform for youths of the district to interact and exchange ideas. The winners will compete in the state-level event to be organised by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs later this year. Schools wishing to participate can collect the entry form from the office at JN Stadium, Polo during office hours. The last date for submission of forms is March 6.
