Police earn kudos for safeguarding Umwali

NONGSTOIN: The Acting Syiem of Hima Nongmynsaw, Nongmynsaw Syiemship, Phlowing Syiem has praised the police department of West Khasi Hills under the leadership of Superintendent of Police, BJ Laloo and SDPO of Mawshynrut, I Kharkongor for taking stock of the recent land encroachment incident by Assam police at Umwali.
Phlowing told the media on Thursday that the way the police handled the situation in Langpih is highly appreciated. He said that people of Umwali and Langpih in particular are feeling secure because of the protection of Meghalaya Police.
“This was the first time that the Meghalaya police have handled such a situation and showed their strength to protect the innocent lives of the people living in the border area and to stand for status quo for not allowing the intention of Assam Police to setup the BOP in Umwali”, the Acting Syiem said. Syiem extended their support to work together with the police and various stakeholders to work together for the development of the border area. He also urged the people of Nongmynsaw Syiemship to work together and cooperate with the district police and administration to unite and work together for the benefit of the region.
