SHILLONG: A man who had gone to register his vehicles for FASTag is now burdened due to a technical issue after his personal mobile phone number was turned into helpline for FASTag customers.
Speaking to The Shillong Times , Rajendra Kumar Mourya, a resident of Kench’s Trace near Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, informed that he had purchased FASTag for six of his vehicles (ML 05 E 4716, ML 05 D 0919, AS 01 DD 9587, AS-01 DD 3841, AS 01 EC 1488, AS 01 R 6965) from Kinetic FASTag from a state toll plaza, however, the so-called “simple-to-use” tag caused its user great misery as it faltered since purchase.
According to Mourya, the Kinetic FASTag charged him Rs 1,200 per car during the purchase which he paid in cash at the Pahammawlein toll plaza.
After non-functioning of the tags, the man followed up the matter with FASTag customer care and the attendant advised him to recharge.
Mourya, after recharging FASTag for six of his vehicles, which cost him Rs 16,061, discovered that it still did not work.
He further informed that after hearing about NHAI issuing free-of-cost FASTag from February 15 to February 29, Mourya visited the NHAI office at Lower Lachumiere and submitted his complaints in a letter.
The office assured him of fixing the problem and told him that his FASTag would work after a period of 3 to 4 days. However, that did not happen. Instead, in a sudden turn of events, Mourya started to get phone calls from FASTag customers from across the country complaining about their issues. The situation kept deteriorating for Mourya as more and more calls as well as messages came in which caused agony to him.
Mourya called FASTag customer care asking them to provide him with the helpline number for Kinetic FASTag. Surprisingly, the man at the other end gave him the complainant’s phone number after holding him on the line for a couple of minutes.
On being questioned with regard to this anomaly, the customer care could only describe it as a technical snag without details.
